About art assignments
A private commission may be for a painting or a sculpture in bronze. What is the subject matter of the work to be?
I will be more than happy to come to you, but you are, of course, very welcome to visit my atelier.
It goes without saying that your personal wishes will form the basis of the commission. These will be discussed during a preliminary meeting during which we will go through the content and the design (abstract or realistic) of your commission, and your preferences for size, colours or patina.
When I visit a company, I gather information about the company's philosophy, its organisational structure and its history, but I concentrate in particular on the people who work there! What is a business without the passionate people behind it? It is they, after all, who form the heart and soul of a company. I then convey the essence of the company's message in the brush strokes and colours and shapes and textures of a painting or sculpture. The painting or sculpture may be wholly or partly abstract or figurative.
Portraits may be of yourself, or of your loved ones, of children, whether still young or grown up, or of parents or grandparents.
The likeness may be a painted portrait brought to life by the brush strokes on the canvas, or a bronze portrait that captures the character of the person in question, whether they are a child or an adult.
For portraits later to be cast in bronze, you will need to come and pose a number of times for the modelling stage.
Examples of commissions already completed can be found on this page.
